Starting this morning, they slowly took Judah off of sedation and then were able to remove the breathing tube. While under sedation, they had to be very quiet and calm around him, with limited touch. And so today, after he was extubated, Lauren and Justin were able to hold his little hand for the first time post-surgery! A huge blessing in that little grasp.
It is still crucial that no infection develops as he steadily recovers.
Hopefully by tomorrow sometime we will have set up a way for us to provide meals for them occasionally during their stay so they can have some other options besides hospital food. Stay tuned if that is something you would like to help out with.
